A Boundary Value Problem for Cold Plasma Dynamics

چکیده

A characteristic feature of wave propagation in cold plasma is the possibility that a hybrid resonance surface, along which the linearized equation for the scalar potential changes from elliptic to hyperbolic type, may be tangent to a flux surface. This property can be represented in two dimensions by setting the hybrid resonance curve tangent to the line x = 0 at the origin of coordinates. The situation is somewhat different from that found in, for example, linear models of transonic fluid dynamics, see (1.6). In that case the sonic line is everywhere normal to the line x = 0. A model for such a resonance curve is the equation

APPLICATION OF THE SINGULAR BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM FOR INVESTIGATION OF PISTON DYNAMICS UNDER POLYTROPIC EXPANSION PROCESS

In this paper a mathematical simulation of a simplified internal combustion engine is presented. To contribute engine kinematics and its geometry, simple relations are derived for constrained motions. The equation of motion for the piston forms a singular boundary value problem. The uniqueness of the solution was studied in the Banach space. For solving governing equations an iterative numerica...

Existence solutions for new p-Laplacian fractional boundary value problem with impulsive effects

Fractional differential equations have been of great interest recently. This is because of both the intensive development of the theory of fractional calculus itself and the applications of such constructions in various scientific fields such as physics, mechanics, chemistry, engineering, etc. Differential equations with impulsive effects arising from the real world describe the dyn...

A novel technique for a class of singular boundary value problems

In this paper, Lagrange interpolation in Chebyshev-Gauss-Lobatto nodes is used to develop a procedure for finding discrete and continuous approximate solutions of a singular boundary value problem. At first, a continuous time optimization problem related to the original singular boundary value problem is proposed. Then, using the Chebyshev- Gauss-Lobatto nodes, we convert the continuous time op...

Mathematical aspects of the cold plasma model

A simple model for electromagnetic wave propagation through zerotemperature plasma is analyzed. Many of the complexities of the plasma state are present even under these idealized conditions, and a number of mathematical difficulties emerge. In particular, boundary value problems formulated on the basis of conventional electromagnetic theory turn out to be ill-posed in this context. However, co...

Unique Solutions to Boundary Value Problems in the Cold Plasma Model

The existence of a unique weak solution to the homogeneous closed Dirichlet problem is proven for an elliptic-hyperbolic equation. The equation arises in a model for electromagnetic wave propagation in cold plasma. A class of open boundary value problems for the equation is shown to possess strong solutions.
